Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 packet taco seasoning (or homemade blend: 1 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/4 tsp oregano, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp pepper)
- 1/4 cup water
- 8 small tortillas (corn or flour)
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1 cup diced tomatoes
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Monterey Jack)
- 1/2 cup sour cream (optional)
- Salsa or guacamole for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add diced onions and sauté until soft, about 2 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
- Cook the Ground Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Season the Beef: Stir in taco seasoning and water. Simmer for 3–5 minutes until the beef is evenly coated and the liquid has reduced. Remove from heat.
- Assemble Tacos: Warm tortillas in a pan or microwave. Add a scoop of the seasoned beef to each tortilla. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and sour cream.
- Serve: Pair with salsa or guacamole on the side. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or plant-based alternatives for a healthier or vegetarian option.
- Adjust the spice level by adding more chili powder or cayenne if you prefer extra heat.
- Leftover beef can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or frozen for later use.
