Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water (100–110°F)
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup warm milk
- Additional butter for brushing
Instructions
- In a small bowl, activate the yeast by mixing it with warm water and a pinch of sugar. Let it sit until frothy (about 5 minutes).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, eggs, and warm milk. Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8–10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 1–2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough into a large circle, about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into triangles.
- Roll each triangle from the wide end to the tip, forming a crescent shape. Place on a baking sheet.
- Let the crescents rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush the rolls with melted butter.
- Bake for 10–15 minutes, or until golden brown. Serve warm.
Notes
- For a golden crust, brush the crescent rolls with an egg wash before baking.
- For sweet variations, fill with chocolate or jam before rolling.
- For savory variations, add cheese or ham to the dough before shaping.
